El Salvador Habitat Build Team
Our group from Central Lutheran is going to El Salvador to help rebuild homes and the Cristo Rey Church. Let's keep them in our prayers. They'll be traveling and building the second and third weeks in February. Pictures from the group will be posted during their time there on our website and on Facebook. Check them out. Vaya con Dios!
'On the Corner' Tuesday & Thursday afternoons, 3:00 - 5:00 pm
Our afterschool tutoring program is continuing to grow each week as we try to meet the needs of the children that are attending. The number of students has grown and we now are in need of more tutors. Would you be willing to consider helping out once a week or once a month? We can work around your schedule. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, February 21st, 5:00 - 7:00pm
Giving up Chocolate for Lent?? Come enjoy delicious chocolate chip pancakes at the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner. Need to add more fruit to your diet?? Come enjoy blueberry pancakes. Trying to live a simpler Life?? Plain pancakes will also be available. Chef Warren E is in charge of the fat Tuesday meal. Our youth will be the servers. Donations will benefit the youth trip to New Orleans, Camp Lutherhaven and other events. Thrivent Choice Dollars will match the funds raised. Join us on Friday evening, February 24th at 5:30 pm for a night of fun, learning, and service. This program is geared toward families, but all are welcome to come, enjoy, and learn. A simple dinner will be provided, we'll play a game to illustrate some of the issues surrounding hunger, and put together a box to address hunger in small ways here in Yakima. Please RSVP to Pastor Jim so that he knows how much food to provide, how much game materials are needed, and to receive "special" instructions on what you need to bring for the service project. Digital Photography Class with Rob Prout
Saturday, February 25th, 9:00 am-4:00 pm
Rob Prout (local artist/photographer/teacher) has offered to teach a class on digital photography at Central Lutheran. This class is totally free, but limited to 8 people, so please contact Pastor Jim quickly if you are interested at 575-6490.
Rob will be focusing on helping students to explore and choose the correct settings on their digital cameras and also sharing tips for photo composition. He is structuring this for beginners, so if you have vast experience in photography, this is probably not the class for you. We will meet in the CLC library at 9 am and take a break for lunch at noon (please bring your lunch or be sure to be back again by 1 pm) The class will end at 4 pm.

The Lenten Mid-Week Services will begin on Wednesday, February 29th. The services will be at noon and 7:00 pm in the Chapel. This year's theme is Seeing is Believing. There will be a soup lunch following the noon services. If you are willing to help make soup or bring bread for the noon lunch, please call the church office at 575-6490 or sign up in the Narthex on Sunday morning,
